TPP has partnered with the Beaverton School District to support Playful Inquiry Approaches in PreK, K ,1st and now 2nd grade classrooms. Beginning in 2015 TPP consulted on opening preschools in BSD. TPP then supported the opening of preschools within BSD elementary schools. In 2017, TPP was invited to offer a series of PD sessions for Beaverton early elementary school teachers (K-1) on integrating Inquiry Approaches into early grade classrooms. In 2018, Teaching Preschool Partners was awarded a contract to support the Beaverton School District, second largest district in Oregon, in opening 5 PreK classrooms located in Title 1 elementary schools.
TPP provides pre-service professional development and is continuing to support the new classrooms with facilitation of an Inquiry-focused PreK professional learning community as well as on-site coaching visits. The K-1 PD continued in 2018-19 with a focus on Playful Literacy, pairing Writer’s Workshop with exploration of inquiry materials. Throughout the pandemic Beaverton continued to add district-funded PreK classrooms, as well as 2 Preschool Promise funded programs for a a current total of 13 preschool classrooms all support with professional development and coaching by TPP.
